The most serene Fender Rhodes fantasies, hyperreal accretions of signal noise and maj7 chords, wind in the trees and hiss in the tape, the wobble of tape lossy digital loops as the Earth turns through the seasons.
change in programming this week at MBB because we’re just a couple of days out from the arrival of SUNBEAM OF NO ILLUSION, the first LP from my serene instrumental duo with John Thayer. The whole album comes out Friday via AKP Recordings (who are really releasing some amazing stuff lately).
however! today we’ll be hosting a first listen of the album on Bandcamp - - you can hear the whole thing a couple of days early and we’ll be in the chat taking Qs and trying to remember how we made particular sounds. join us here at 7pm EST ~
breaking format a little bit today to share a bunch of recent stuff, let’s get into it
today is Bandcamp Friday, cool. my buddies from the Netherlands over at Ambient Curation have organized volume III of their benefit compilation series and of course I was happy to contribute a track - - some buddies, mensches, and real bright lights in the track list, plus proceeds benefit Trans Lifeline. You can listen and/or grab a copy here:
SUNBEAM OF NO ILLUSION is the first official work with my buddy John Thayer, a super studio wizard and percussionist (whose solo album from last year is really good, too).
instead of a new studio track this week, please enjoy this video of my big band playing one riff for 42 straight minutes
my buddy John Thayer and I are going to be doing a Northeast gentle music weekender pretty soon, including a set at a sauna in Portland, Maine where we will be soundtracking the schvitz, here’s the tour flyer:
