breaking format a little bit today to share a bunch of recent stuff, let’s get into it
today is Bandcamp Friday, cool. my buddies from the Netherlands over at Ambient Curation have organized volume III of their benefit compilation series and of course I was happy to contribute a track - - some buddies, mensches, and real bright lights in the track list, plus proceeds benefit Trans Lifeline. another great ambient release out today is a brand new one by OHYUNG - for those of you who caught her feature in this newsletter last year this stark, sparsely populated music might feel like a departure from her shiny pop music, but there’s a very distinct throughline in her work. great stuff and hey, she even had me write the liner notes ;)
on a totally different note, very legit sloppy rock ‘n’ roll star Dolly Creamer has a new song out and she had me play some truly goofy tone lead guitar on it and I just really love this song:
also - - today is the last Bandcamp Friday before John and I put out our record at the end of the month. If you wanted to grab a copy, today would be good:
last thing I’ll mention today is that on March 14th a bunch of us are organizing a tribute to Arthur Russell in Catskill that will feature covers of his music, a screening of the documentary about him, plus a sweaty disco dance party. proceeds will go to supporting the essential work of the Columbia County Sanctuary Movement. presented to you by the Community Theater, the Avalon Lounge, Human Behaviour, and a bunch of great musicians :)
