Hi all -
I’ve just officially released a new song from my first proper LP in almost four years. The album’s called Youth Pastoral, it’s set to come out on February 28th, and the first single is called “Power Zone.” We’ll be doing a release show at Union Pool that night (please mark your calendars). That’s the album art up above, designed by Chrissy Ziegler after a tattoo by Allie Landry and featuring my actual hair and blood.
“Power Zone” - a real mellow country heartbreaker with an incredible sax solo by Dave Lackner - is now available for listening and pre-ordering on bandcamp:
You can listen to the song a bunch of other ways, too - streaming services, etc.
Find it, tune in, please enjoy ! ! !
This record has gone through a lot, and arriving at this point has been - for me - a real miracle of care and love from a community of people after losing our friend, who sings beautifully all over this record. I struggle to know how best to be both excited about the record and properly reverent of Devra and her life. My friend/collaborator took some time to write about this last week, ahead of this sort of big announcement - here’s the link if you want to read more about it. I think it might continue to be weird and challenging, but mostly I’m very glad to have this work to share.
(And I hope you don’t mind me using this service to occasionally talk about things like this - I’ll still be sending you music and writing on Thursday, thanks ~ ~ ~)
